Veridian
Los Angeles DJs you already know, playing to two open floors under the tree. Dance music until the room forgets what time it is.
648 S Broadway · Downtown Los Angeles · Since 1932
It translates closest to “where the listening is easy.”
TheSanctuary
Five floors of a Broadway landmark under new management reopened as a house with its own rules and a standing welcome for mortals and monsters alike.
The Sanctuary
Step across the threshold and the noise of the city stops behind you. That is the whole promise, and it is older than any of us: a room where the arguing outside doesn't follow you in, where you can hear the person across the table, and where nobody asks you to be anything other than what you are.
Clifton's has been many things since 1932 — cafeteria, cabinet of curiosities, the strangest room on Broadway. It fed anyone who walked in, whether or not they could pay. Sanctuary DTLA carries that forward and makes it explicit: this is neutral ground and all are welcome.
Come for the comedy, stay for the dancing, and if you notice that some of the regulars seem to be something other than human — well. Every good room in this city has its secrets.

Programming
Music, comedy, dancing, magic, trivia, good drinks.

Los Angeles DJs you already know, playing to two open floors under the tree. Dance music until the room forgets what time it is.

Trivia in the tiki bar at the top of the building, hosted by someone who has plainly been asked stranger questions than yours.

A rotating lineup of LA comics, in the subterranean Nether Bar that sits atop the nexus of Los Angeles's under realm.

Latin dance night — salsa and bachata with a crowd that actually knows the steps. Lessons at nine, the floor is yours after.

Bad movies, a basement, and a crowd that came on purpose. You'll come chat, drink, vote, watch, laugh, cry... it'll change your life.

The Witches and Warlocks of Los Angeles will soon haunt the basement of the Sanctuary. Stay tuned for the announcement of our first show.
The Calendar
This week at the Sanctuary
Soon: build the whole night in one go — table, show, and dinner together.

Private Events
Five floors, each with its own character — and a whole building that can be yours for a night. Weddings, premieres, holiday parties, productions, and the occasional thing we've been asked never to describe.
Beyond the Door
Some of our regulars ask questions the bar can't answer.
For them there's the true account of Earth's past — twelve chapters of it, kept by people who take the keeping seriously. Believe it or don't. The door works either way.
